Uruapan

This was our third and last stop before returning to Ixtapa.  There is a small but delicious restaurant “Uruapan” near the Carson City airport.  We had to check out its namesake.  We had about five hours between busses, so we planned to take a focused exploration of Uruapan between busses. The bus was late and traffic was heavy so maybe two hours at the Parque National de Uruapan.

The park was developed around a river that appears to start from an underground source. Nature provided lots of seeps, and many other water features were built around the river. Huge jungle plants were everywhere.

If we are able to return to Uruapan, there is a volcano nearby that erupted in 1943 that might be interesting to visit, in addition to the other sites we missed in the area.
