Cocoa to Titusville

Yet another opportunity to see another SpaceX Starlink satellite launch.  And about 8 miles closer to the launchpad.  Unfortunately, we had to trade in our free dock in Cocoa for a pay-by-the-day slip in Titusville.

We scheduled three nights in Titusville.  We had a new thermostat control unit waiting for us to repair our freezer.  We might just have a freezer again!  Ice!  Glorious frozen cubes of ice!  And after an hour or so of labor, ice was on the way!

Fridge to the left, freezer to the right and cooling down fast

We had dock water.  This was our chance to wash the boat.  It is sparkling clean again.  Mostly.  At least our decks and equipment is salt free.

We also needed to change the oil in the engine.  we were at 130 hours on the engine – about 30 hours more than our normal oil service interval. Titusville was our first opportunity to recycle used oil.  Normally, oil changes are not a favorite task.  It’s usually a mess.  But after 24 years of oil changes, we finally found a process that works.  Not one drop in spilled!  Woot, Woot!  It’s still not a favorite task, but way better than before.

Final boat task?  Pumping out and getting a rinse to the forward holding tank.  The marina has a pump-out boat that visited us early on Saturday morning.  The tank is as sparkling clean as a holding tank could be.

Our final chore was reprovisioning.  There was a formerly Aldi supermarket just a quarter mile away.  Provisioning trip one completed.  We also made a trip on the local bus to Walmart for some additional shopping.  Best $2.25 ever spent on bus fare.

Titusville Marina is very nice, and the staff are very accommodating.  And they have dolphins and manatees in the marina!

Our buddy boat, Cerca Trova, made the trip with us to Titusville.  Outside of boat chores, we ended up visiting a couple of nice restaurants, and one excellent brewery two times with Cerca Trova, who seem to enjoy craft beers as much as we do.

The day before we left, there was a lightning storm.   Something got hit by a spark on Merritt Island across from Titusville.  In the evening, it was still burning hard.
