We are enjoying our stay in Shelter Bay. We really were not planning to be here a month. It’s probably better for Dave’s ankle to rest longer than not.

So much for ankle rest. We went on a nature hike in the marina jungle with a local guide. In addition to the base’s theater, the old Catholic church, a zoo area, and bunkers of mortar Battery Baird that was active in WWI and WWII. Outside, interesting trees and plants. In the bunker, spiders and bats!

Saturday is the community BBQ and potluck. Last week, we did shrimp kebobs. This week, we are cooking chicken on the grill. There were probably 30 folks who showed up for both BBQs.

There is a huge difference between the Pacific and the Caribbean – Tides! 18 feet tide ranges in the Pacific versus about 1.5 feet in the Caribbean. They have to build the dock pilings a bit bigger in the Pacific.

Hope Dave heals up soon. Not a bad place to be stuck.

If I had to choose a “rest and ankle rehab place” it would DEFINITELY be Shelter Bay! Gorgeous! What was the ankle diagnosis? I think I missed that! Broken, torn, pulled??? Bet you’ve met so many amazing people to swap stories with! How special! Love you guys! Sheryl and Paul

Tobillo fracturó. But a very small fracture. The Orthopedic took three x-rays trying to find the injury.
Yes – this has been a great experience and we have made many great friends.
