Vista Mar Marina

We are staying for a week at Vista Mar Marina near the small town of San Carlos. We are about 45 miles from Panamá City where we will be starting our crossing through the canal.

The marina is not terribly special. It’s not a resort. There are no pools, only one bar /restaurant, a little tienda, and a small marine store. But it will do just fine for our short stay. We have clean water, electricity, and the docks are in nice shape. There are several other cruisers here, mostly coming from the Caribbean and headed to somewhere in the South Pacific. We did take care of a few projects that have been languishing.

We spent New Year’s Eve having snacks and bevs on our neighbor boat. The fireworks from the beach were awesome. The expats living there obviously have a little competition going on. New Year Day breakfast was special, french toast, strawberries, sausage and fresh squeezed OJ.

New Years Day breakfast!

There’s a huge beach on the way to San Carlos. The town is 10 minutes walking distance. Today is a holiday. Everyone is at the beach.

San Carlos is a 15-minute walk down the beach. It has several ‘Super Mini’ grocery & miscellaneous stores. There is also a fruit & veggie mercado that we will check out after New Year’s. January 1 is “Culecos!” Day. How’s the weather up north?
