Boca Chica, PA

Boca Chica is a little tiny town in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by about 100 islands. BC is the place where many cruisers check in (going south/east) or out (going north) of Panamá.

Boca Chica has charms. There are howler monkeys howling at sunrise and sunset. There are tons of beautiful little tropical islands all around the area to admire. The anchorage is well protected and calm – just like anchoring on a small lake! There are four other boats sharing the same anchorage with us – they appear to have been here a while.

We met one of the cruisers from one of the long-term boats. He’s been cruising since he was three, and he and his parents have been in Boca Chica on their boat for the past 10 years. I guess they like it here.

We scheduled concierge check-in service from the guy who checks in a lot of boats. It is the Friday before Christmas, and we did not want to miss this window of opportunity or to screw up check-in and have to check in foir or five days from now.
