The House is Home

I’m stepping back in time and filling in some details of us settling into our home.

Before we left on our adventure 3 years ago, we stored our art at my sister’s place in West Virginia. Now comes the tricky part, how to get it all back to Evans.

In early July, we had a rental car for a month, so why not put some miles on it! I (Mary) drove the rental car to Petoskey to visit my mom. On the way, I stopped at my brother and sister-in-law’s place for a visit. It was a quick visit, so we packed in lots of great conversation and food! It was also the 4th of July, and we were able to watch fireworks from their second floor window.

Once in Petoskey, I had some quality time with my mom and sisters. I am so blessed to have a loving family. The weather was so nice that we were able to sit outside and look at Lake Michigan from East Park. Mom and I looked for animals in the clouds. It was so much fun. A bonus was seeing my nephew and his family at Lake Michigan Beach in Charlevoix.

On the way back to Evans, I stopped at my sister’s place and loaded as much of our art as I could into the rental car. The rest would have to wait until we had a car and some more furniture.

By the middle of July we had most of the funiture we would need. It was time to get the rest of our art. It was a beautiful drive from Evans to Charleston. We were able to pick up the rest of our art and spend a couple of days with my sister Kathy.

Nothing makes a house a home like pictures on the walls. We are not finished but close. It is home now.
