Weather Event in Brunswick

One of the reasons we moved our boat to Brunswick for the summer is because it’s a noted hurricane hole.  A hurricane ‘hole’ is a good thing – there is low history of occurance, and it’s very protected if one of them gets close.

We had a weather disturbance pass us by.  The storm definitely was not a hurricane, but it was a tension builder.  The low got pretty close.  There was plenty of lightning being generated offshore.

We tied up our boat pretty securely.  If a bigger event was forecast, we would have doubled our efforts for damage control.  More lines, more fenders, and would have removed sails, dodger, and other equipment that could cause problems during a big event.

We’re not very happy about our big neighbor’s efforts.  No fenders?  Few lines?  More huricane prep needed!
