We made it to Grand Cayman! Our first order of business was checking into the country, which was very easy. We hailed port security nine miles out, and then again as we entered the harbor. They directed us to a dock where we were met by four officials from Port Security, Customs, Immigration, and Health. We filled out all the forms they gave us. We gave them our documents and passports. After a short time, they came back with our passports, visas, and entrance papers. We had a 30-day visa. The security agent gave us a list of gps coordinates for all the free government buoys and dinghy docks. The officials were all very nice.

Next, we found one of the free mooring buoys and settled in for a nap after our three night journey. Then, it was time to explore a bit.

We got the dinghy in the water and went ashore. Not knowing the area, we didn’t feel like we could leave the dinghy unattended as we forgot to bring our cable and lock. I stayed with the dinghy, and Dave went in search of a Cayman courtesy flag. It was a good time to call my mom! Once Dave came back with the flag, we went back to the boat and had it flying in no time.
With the lock in hand, we headed back to the island to check out the awesome grocery store. It was like a Whole Foods market but even more expensive! Dave found The Jerk BBQ Hut, so we went off for dinner. It was so, so good and not that expensive. All in all, a great first day on Cayman.

How great is it knowing you conquered the seas to arrive safe and well in Grand Cayman. So proud and happy for you both! It looks beautiful there.
