Star Beach

Or as it’s also known, Starfish Beach.  This is the first sandy beach we have found or visited within the lagoons around Bocas del Toro.  The shores here are mostly lined with mangrove trees.  This is a nice change of scenery from all the mangroves.

Star Beach before the restaurants open and tour boats arrive

It is called Starfish Beach for a reason. There are dozens of Starfish in the water along the shore.  We anchored there our friends Marcie and Damon on Wanderlust. They picked us up in their dinghy to explore the beach.

The beach is full of huts where you can order up margaritas or a variety of other Caribbean beverages!  We saw a bunch of Starfish and posed with our toes.  We decided this was a pretty good place to spend the night.

We started the second day snorkeling to the beach and the surrounding area. We saw a huge ray, at least 50 more starfish and some schools of fish. Dave and I went to shore to enjoy grilled lobster. It was very inexpensive.

Later, Marcie and Damon invited us over to play Euchre! Yes, Damon is from Michigan. They play a little differently, but it was still a lot of fun.  A rare quadruple ‘Shoot the Moon’ gave the ladies an amazing come-from-behind win!
