Shelter Bay Marina

What a nice marina. Great people come here from all over the world. It is amazing. We might have to learn some French. Lucky for us, most people speak English. It is so interesting to hear where people came from and where they are going. Many of the people here are sailing their boats through the canal and on to cross the Pacific Ocean to the South Pacific Islands. Some are going to the Galapagos first and some onto Australia after. Truly fascinating.

The marina has a great pool that we visit every day. There is also a pretty good restaurant here that we do not visit every day. I still know how to cook. 😉 The marina also has a small tienda and small but well stocked chandlery.

There is a free bus that takes marina guests to a good-sized mall in the nearest town, Colòn. There is a very nice grocery store in town. Of course, we found several hardware stores and the Cinnabon in the mall. Dave has visited the private hospital there twice for his foot injury. There are a couple of huge duty-free zones that we have yet to visit.

One urgent care visit. Two x-rays. A plaster splint. One ortopédico consult. Three more x-rays. $200.

We are looking forward to a guided nature tour nearby. We hope to see monkeys and more sloths. We hear howler monkeys in the morning. Keep checking back for pictures that are not feet.
