Punto Quepos and Biensanz beach are about a mile or so south of the $200/night Quepos marina. Marinas are expensive in Costa Rica. We can anchor for free! I’m a cheapskate.

We met the beach services marketing director, Carlos, as we landed the dinghy. We immediately had a couple of $6 beers in our hands and a full afternoon and next-day itinerary. We also found our dinghy a little shy of air when we returned from a brief hike with Carlos. Carlos said he had a friend who could fix the leak. We checked the dinghy later – no leak, just a scam. Pirate.

That was a bit overwhelming, so we got up early the next morning and scooted out of there.
We did get to listen to howler monkeys in the evening, but they were too shy to be seen. We did get to barely see a sloth, just slothing in a tree, though.
On our way to Quepos, we did get some nice wind and fast sailing. We saw over 9 knots but only got proof of 8.9, but that’s still pretty darn fast!
