Waking up in Nicaragua

There are plenty of chickens and dogs to help you wake up around sunrise, not to mention the plethora of the birds in the jungle.

The hotel at the marina is only open on weekends, so other than the hotel staff, we had the resort all to ourselves. Unfortunately, the restaurant and bar were also closed, so we had to visit other local establishments for off-the-boat dining. It was actually pretty good!

The town of Aserradores is very small but has a few small tiendas and restaurants. We found our future dinners wandering around. There are chicken busses at 6 and 7 AM that go to the “big” towns of El Viejo and Chinandega about an hour away. We are passing on that trip.

We did have a bit of breakage on the boat from all the slamming against the waves during our home run. There is a cabinet under our bed that held four drawers. The cabinet did not have much support except six screws to hold the top of the cabinet.

We took apart our bed to get to the cabinet. We added a strut to the back of the cabinet and moved all the stripped-out top screws to a better side of the wood. Four hours later, we have a cabinet and drawers that should survive the seas a little better. Gotta love owning a boat. Gotta love fixing boats in beautiful tropical destinations!

Bed apart. See where the drawers slide into the busted cabinet?
