Cheraw State Park, NC

Our pop-up trailer is working out great! Our venerable Honda Pilot has 220k miles now and had lots of adventures before we acquired this ride. We hope the Pilot can hold together to the end of our journey! It still has a lot of towing left to do.

Camping (three days before Idalia!)

We had a beautiful site overlooking the lake. It is a small campground with only 17 sites. We rented a kayak and circumnavigated the lake. There was an awesome cypress swamp at the south end. We took no phones, so we also took no photos of the spectacular grove of trees growing in the shallow waters.

Cyprus Swamp (somebody else’s picture)

We did get a few other pics to share before we abandoned this site. Hurricane Idalia passed by with its predicted gale force winds and 4-6 inches of rain… the Residence Inn in Columbus took us in and saved us from the storm.

One stop before the storm was at the Whirlygig Park in Wilson, NC. Sorry we did not get a video of the ukulele band also playing at the park.
