After several days visiting our friends and surveying real estate in New Bern, we headed off camping again. Our first target was Cedar Point campground by the ocean in the Croatan National Forest, but the campsite was full, so we charged on another hour to settle into the Cliffs of the Nuese State Park.
The cliffs were about the biggest change in elevation we’d seen in this part of NC. Apparently, a little land shifted along a fault line about a million years ago, and a 90-foot cliff was created for the Neuse River to follow.

We also found the swimming hole with a diving platform! It was the last weekend for swimming because all the lifeguards had to go back to school. We made it just in time!
