Ta-la-kay-pa-kay?
While we are waiting for parts for the boat, we decided to go on a little bus trip to Guadalajara. We took a first class bus from Nuevo Vallarta. Greyhound could learn a bit about busses from Mexico.
Tlaquepaque is an area that is known for beautiful art and architecture. We walked around Plaza Jardín Hidalgo. There are two beautiful churches around the square, Parish of San Pedro (St. Francis) and Our Lady of Solitude Sanctuary. The House of Craftsmen (Casa del Artesano) and the Regional Museum (Museo Regional de la Ceramica) were closed.
We found an awesome spot for a late lunch/early dinner – Bar Rigo. There were 18 restaurants that surrounding a gazebo.
The gazebo was occupied by a 12-piece mariachi band. We found a hand written note on the table informing us of the “one cazuela minimum” to sit down. The drink went well with Mariachi. We also had the famous ahogadas (drowned sandwiches). The sandwiches were interesting.
It was a great day.

I hope you were able to spend the night there. I have fond memories of Tlaquepaque from when I spent a summer living in Guadalajara. I loved all of the artisans and their beautiful handicrafts. Perhaps next you can get to Lake Chapala, lots of expats there.

what’s a drown sandwich. It sounds soggy and gross.

It is pulled pork on a roll with a red sauce. It’s pretty good.
