Dave surprised me with a day outing to Cabrillo National Monument. He cleverly disguised the start of our adventure as a walk to West Marine. Then he took me to the bus stop and shared what we were going to do.
The bus ride there took us by Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. Sure made us appreciate all the service men and women that gave their lives to protect us.
San Diego Bay Statue Juan Cabrillo Old Lighthouse Pt. Loma Lighthouse
In 1542, Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo stepped into history as the first European to set foot on what is now the West Coast of the United States. The park has some great trails and fantastic views. We will be back to explore more trails.
Captain Dave your first mate has shrunk! You are working her too hard.
San Diego looks beautiful! We are looking forward to visiting!

What a great surprise, Dave. So sneaky! This is one of our must do stops when we visit San Diego. The acres of headstones in the cemetery are quite sobering but it is a beautiful resting place. The tide pools are worth a visit too if the tide is low. So fun!

We wanted to go to the tide pools, but the tide is only low enough at night when the park is closed this time of year.
