Titusville to St. Augustine

We left Titusville with the intent of stopping overnight in Ponce Inlet.  That would have made for a long next day to St. Augustine, so we continued to Daytona about 10 miles further up the ICW.  Passing through New Smyrna and Dayton reminded us of America!  Partying runabout boats everywhere.

After an overnight anchor, in Daytona, we continued up the ICW on our 44-mile trek to the municipal marina in St. Augustine.

The second leg of this ICW transit was very busy.  Beach towns lined the right bank.  Everyone in town must own a runabout, and they were all out to celebrate Memorial Day.  It’s also a very twisty leg of our trip.  The drive was tiring, having to make many course changes, and having speedboat always buzzing around us, sometimes very close.

St. Augustine Municipal Marina is located in the center of the downtown tourist district.

And now the bad news…  We had a poor landing in the marina.  Dave got pinned sideways to a dock by the wind.  Our anchor scraped a very nice boat.  We also had some rail damage and a good scuff near the waterline.  When we haul out on Brunswick,  we will have to inspect that more closely.  Not a good day for the skipper.
