It was Emancipation Day in Cayman. There was a small festival downtown George Town during the day. That evening we were surprised with a fireworks show, and then an unexpected but spectacular drone show. Must have had 2000 drones! Very cool.

The next day we went to the port captain’s office to check out of the country and get fuel. It was a good thing we gave ourselves a lot of time since we had to wait about an hour for the fuel truck. After all our paperwork was done, we went back to the boat to prepare for our 3 night – 4 day journey to Key West, Florida, USA! Dave changed the oil. When he went to turn the engine on, he noticed that we didn’t have enough water coming out the back of the boat. The first thing he thought of was that the raw water filterwas clogged with crud. No joy for an easy fix. Next, check the impeller. Usually a two-hour job. Sure enough, it was bad. 7 fins were gone. We found 5 fins. The other 2 are, who knows, somewhere in the heat exchanger. Fixing broken things in tropical destinations. What it’s all about!
That evening, Dave took us to a very nice restaurant for our last meal in a foreign country, at least for a while.

i love cruise ships….so beautiful.

What a fantastic send off for you! Fireworks, Drone show, singing kids! Too bad about the fix but at least you weren’t in the middle of your journey to the US!
