Cayman Part 2

The next day we woke early, got the dinghy in the water and headed to shore for a tour. First up was snorkeling at coral garden, next, playing with stingrays at stingray city, then on to starfish point. It was nice to be on a boat where we had no responsibility other than, not fall off.

The coral gardens were full of fish and some stingrays swimming around. We even saw a barracuda hiding under the anchored boat. The coral was not very vibrant, but the fish liked the area, or at least the food the captain threw overboard.

Stingray City was a 3-foot deep sandbar area where a bunch of stingrays swam and allowed the charter crew members to catch them so the guests, us, could pet them and hold them ourselves. It was very cool, although I wonder if it bothered them. Of course, no one got stung.

Starfish Point was another shallow area near a beach where there were a lot of starfish.  We were taught how to pick them up but keep them under water.  I never knew you could pick them up.  It’s probably better for the starfish if you don’t.

Once back onshore, Dave and I found a place for lunch with nitro stout on tap and coconut shrimp! Then we walked to George Town. It was Sunday and most of the shops were closed and there was no cruise ship in port so it was very quiet.

Back on the boat, it was swimtime and nap time before relaxing evening.
